Obaby Triple Pushchair Review / Buying Guide

Introduction

The Obaby Triple pushchair is suitable for use from 3 months+ until approximately 15kg, which is around 3 years old. The Obaby Triple is ideal for use for mums with children of a similar age who still require a buggy, or for childminders and nursery settings. The Obaby triple is of course designed for use with 3 children, therefore it is quite large and heavy as it would need to be in order to carry 3 children. The pushchair weighs 17.5 kg.

Ease of Use & Comfort

The Obaby Triple features 3 side by side seat units which are all identical in size and features. The seat units all feature a 5-point safety harness which is adjustable.

All of the seats also have independently adjustable leg rests. The leg rest can be left in the upward position while your child is a baby (normally up to 12 months) before there legs hang over the rest. Once their legs are a bit longer and hang over the leg rest, you can adjust the rest into the downward position where it then offers calf support.

The 3 seat units on the triple buggy are able to recline independently of each other. It is easy to adjust the recline, there are two bars at the rear of the seat, simply feel for the ribbed plastic bit on either side, and then squeeze down with your thumbs and gently release the seat back. Each seat unit has four different recline options to ensure each child is super comfortable.

The Obaby triple pushchair includes 3 hoods / sun canopies, which are fully adjustable, but are not independent of each other. You are able to release the plastic catch at either side of the first hood and the third hood, and you can fold all of the hoods backwards, or you can have them fully forwards for shade coverage.

Practical Features

The Obaby triple buggy comes complete with a full raincover. The raincover fits over all 3 seat units giving all children protection from the elements. The raincover is fitted very easily, it attached over the two middle handles of the buggy, and using velcro at either side at the top to secure it. At the bottom of the pushchair at the outer edges of the buggy, there are two clips which secure the raincover and they secure it neatly over the foot rests, so your children's feet won't get wet.

The buggy has 3 independent shopping baskets, which are a generous size, giving you plenty of storage for baby and child essentials…and maybe a bit of shopping too!

Manoeuvrability

The Obaby Triple pushchair features four ergonomic padded handles, these handles help you to steer the pushchair easily. The handles are not height adjustable.

The triple pushchair has 8 sets of twin wheels, the four sets of wheels at the rear of the pushchair are fixed in place, and the four wheels at the front are lockable swivel wheels and can be adjusted to tackle different types of terrain. If you are on smooth surfaces such as walking around the shops, then have the wheels set to 'swivel' mode, this will allow you to manoeuvre the buggy easily. If you come across bumpier or uneven terrain such as cobbles, gravel or sand, then change the wheels to 'locked' mode which will give you more control.

The triple has one braking system, which consists of a bar which runs the whole length of the pushchair, simply press down this bar with your foot and this applies the brake to all four rear wheels to stop the pushchair from rolling forwards. Simply lift the bar up with your foot to then release the brake…it couldn't be easier!

Folding and Unfolding

To fold the pushchair is easier than you would think for a triple pushchair. There are 3 padded grey handles at the back of each seat unit, first simply pull each handle upwards one at a time, this releases the frame. Then there is a red clip on the right hand side of the outer edge of the first seat unit, press this down firmly with your foot. Then push forwards on the handles and the buggy will start to fold. You may find it a little stiff to push down, but this is because it is a bigger unit than most pushchairs so you may have to use a little muscle.

The pushchair can be secured and locked into place using two red clips which are located on the middle handles, which you hook onto the lower part of the frame. There is also a carry handle located at the side of the pushchair to help you with lifting.

To unfold the pushchair and put back up, remember to release the safety locking catches first. Then lift the handles towards you, once the pushchair is upright simply press down the black plastic support at the rear of each seat unit, this locks your pushchair in place and your ready to roll!
