Ease of Use / Comfort
The front main seat unit is very roomy and from the base of the seat to the canopy has a height of 29inches, and a 24 inch seat back which is vey tall, meaning there is plenty of room for even the tallest of children. There is also a five point harness and removable bumper bar. The plastic foot rest gives children a great place to rest their feet, and is very easy to wipe clean.
The main seat unit has multi position recline system which uses a strap and toggle system to operate, and is very easy to do with just one hand! The seat unit can be adjusted to any recline position because of the toggle and strap adjustment, and the best feature is that the seat goes completely flat, which is great for newborns and older children to nap.
The hood or canopy on the Explorer buggy is very large and has a flip out sun visor for added protection. The hood acts like a floating canopy and fold completely forward to shield them from the sun, or even to help stop the wind on a windy day. It also has two handy side pockets on the hood to fit a few little essentials in, it doesn’t however have a peek-a-boo window. The handle bar is fully adjustable which is great for taller parents to them having to stoop over the pushchair, and is equally great for shorter parent.
Manouverability
The wheels on the Explorer stroller and 12 inch air-filled tyres, unfortunately there is no pump included with the stroller, but they are available to purchase separately. The front wheel is a lockable swivel wheel, whihc helps to give great manoeuvrability whether in the country side going over rougher terrain such as grass, sand or gravel or in the city. The Explorer is fantastically easy to fold down, and can be done with just one hand! It also has an automatic lock to lock it in place once folded.
Adaptability
The most important feature on a phil & teds inline buggy, is of course the ability for it to become a double or tandem pushchair with the addition of the double kit. The double kit seat unit has a new feature, which is it own sun canopy or hood. The double kit seat can either be positioned on the front of the buggy, on top of the main seat unit. This mode is suitable for a newborn baby who would be in the main seat unit, and a toddler who would ride in the seat in top. Or it can be positioned at the back of the buggy, behind the main seat unit. This seat positioning is definitely best suited to two toddlers. When in this mode it is important to point out that the child’s feet will resting in the shopping basket, which means you will not have a lot of room for shopping or changing bags etc, which is something to be mindful of.
The Explorer can be used as a travel system with an infant car seat, simply by attaching a car seat adaptor to the front of the buggy, you can then attach and secure your infant car seat...easy peasy!
